LAMESA was started in 1987 by Luis Medina. The company began as a small retail location mainly selling goods directly imported from Lima, Peru. In 1996, however, LAMESA began to take on a life of its own through the creation and manufacture of unique clothing designs made of exclusively raw materials. 

Although Luis is the owner, LAMESA is definitely a family business. Our small manufacturing plant in Peru is managed by Elber Medina (Luis’ brother). Olga Medina (Luis’ sister-in-law), after being able to complete design school because of LAMESA’s success, is also an instrumental part of the clothing design process. Even our social media marketing and advertising is done within the family. 

Today we have a beautiful retail location in downtown Baltimore, Maryland and of course this website for those of you who cannot come to us in person.
